Cambridge University Rifle Association
CURA competes in both target rifle and match rifle competitions from the Easter Holidays through to September. All the shooting takes place outdoors. Target Rifle involves prone single shot precision shooting using aperture iron sights at ‘round bull’ targets at distances from 300 to 1000 yards. Match rifle involves longer range shooting from 1000 to 1200 yards using telescopic sights. Both discipline use the 7.62mm calibre.
Cambridge University Smallbore Club
CUSBC shoots smallbore (.22 calibre) single shot rifles at 25yards for most competitions. We have the use of a range within Cambridge where we can practice every Monday and Friday afternoons. We shoot regularly in postal matches and make frequent trips to shoot shoulder-to-shoulder matches against other universities and clubs.
